Maine

Maine’s abortion laws are much less restrictive relative to other states for women seeking abortions. Still, Maine has imposed a limit on later term abortion, permitting procedures in cases of endangerment to the life and/or health (physical or mental) of the woman. Additionally, Maine allows certain individuals or entities to refuse to provide women abortions. Maine also subjects abortion providers to burdensome restrictions not applied to other medical professionals via Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers (TRAP) laws.

Restrictions:
Constitutionally limits abortion by gestational age after viability
Prohibits later abortion except to preserve a woman's life or health (physical or mental)
