In January 2016, New Hampshire Representative Joseph Hagan introduced an unconstitutional 20-week ban on abortion. The bill would ban all abortions at 20 weeks post-fertilization unless an abortion is necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman whose life is endangered by a physical disorder, physical illness, or physical injury, but the language excludes psychological or emotional conditions from this exception. The bill also contains an exception for reported rape, but only if the woman has obtained counseling or medical treatment for the rape or if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest against a minor and has been reported. Also in January 2016, Representative Warren Groen introduced an unconstitutional 20-week ban on abortion. The bill would ban all abortions at 20 weeks after a woman’s last menstrual period and contains only narrow exceptions for a woman’s life or physical health. For the latest bill status, click here.
