With a pro-choice legislature, Hawaii’s abortion laws are relatively less restrictive than those in other states. However, Hawaii has imposed a Constitutional limit on abortion, permitting procedures in cases of endangerment to the life and/or health (physical or mental) of the woman. Additionally, Hawaii allows certain individuals or entities to refuse to provide women abortions. Hawaii also subjects abortion providers to burdensome restrictions not applied to other medical professionals via Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers (TRAP) laws.
