Restrictions: None specifically relevant to later abortion In January 2018, New Mexico Representative Yvette Herrell (R-051) introduced H 76 to amend the state’s current D&E law to ban abortion at 20 weeks gestation or at viability. The bill contains narrow exceptions to save the life of the patient, yet, even in the case of an exception, the physician must try to preserve the life of the fetus.The bill failed the state’s adjournment deadline on February 15, 2018.
