Later Abortion Initiative responds to overturn of Roe v. Wade

On June 24, 2022, The US Supreme court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization overturned Roe v. Wade, the ruling that established the constitutional right to abortion in 1973. The Court’s decision has already led to a number of states taking action to ban abortion outright, and it is anticipated that around half of U.S. states will move to restrict or ban abortion in the coming weeks and months. Taking away the right to an abortion is an assault on human rights, bodily autonomy, and self-determination and goes against extensive research that shows abortion restrictions harm individuals’ and families’ health and well-being, as well as global recommendations for abortion as safe and essential health care.
