An account of the expansion of legal second trimester abortion in Nepal. In consultation with Ipas, the Family Health Division of the Nepali Ministry of Health initiatied an expansion plan in 2007 to improve access to surgical and medication abortion. By 2012, the program had trained 46 providers at 19 sites and new sites continue to be trained. 1848 women, with an average gestational age of 16 weeks, received services from the start of this program through August 2012. Demographic and quality data are discussed in detail in this report.
